
The third edition of the El Salt de Tramuntana cycling event was held this Saturday in Selva with the participation of some 150 riders, who enjoyed a day of cycling in the unique setting of the Serra de Tramuntana.
The event, which has become a firm fixture on Mallorca’s cycling calendar, featured two routes starting and finishing in Selva’s Plaça Major: a long distance of 85.6 kilometers (four laps of the circuit with a climb to Coll de sa Batalla) and a short distance of 44.8 kilometers (two laps of the same route).

In the short race, 44.8 km, the winner was Marc Vanrell (Rodadors Algaida) with a time of 1h17’59”, followed by Sebastià Serra and Joan Barceló. In the women’s category, the podium was occupied by Antònia Siquier (1h31’40”), Else Lund Andersen and Laetitia Charbonnet.
In the long distance, with four ascents to the Coll de sa Batalla, Gastón Montenegro won (2:34:16), followed by Jaume Perelló and Aurelien Hornuss. In the women’s category, the winner was Lisa Stapelbroek, followed on the podium by Margalida Perelló Vives.

The awards ceremony was held at the end of the race, with the presence of the Mayor of Selva, Joan Rotger, Councillor Manolo Barredo, the President of Som Tramuntana, Isabel Munar, and the Director General of Sports of the Regional Government, Joan Antoni Martorell, who highlighted the value of this type of event for promoting sport and the region.

Organized with the support of the Selva City Council, the Balearic Islands Government through the AETIB (Agricultural and Sports Association), and with funding from the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS), as well as the Consell de Mallorca (Mallorca Council) through the Serra de Tramuntana Consortium. With the support of the Association of Forest Traders ‘Som Tramuntana’, the event aims to boost the local economy and promote the Serra de Tramuntana as a prime location for cycling, an environmentally friendly sport linked to sustainable tourism.
